Upper Class – Onefortherain

It has been raining for the past two days at my place, so yesterday I decided to take that rainy mood and make a beat out of it. Not only rainy mood, but also samples by Luiz Bonfá and Edith Piaf have their appearance in this beat. Bossa Nova seems to be quite a big thing for many beatmakers and since Wun Two is one of my favourite ones (he made a whole Bossa Nova influenced album called “Rio”), I stumbled upon some nice Bossa Nova guitars!

Enjoy!

Upper Class – “old apartment” EP

Haven’t done anything here for a few days since I am currently on vacation, but in the meantime until I’m back or discover anything new, you can check out my latest instrumental EP. The digital download is free, but if you like, you can spend a few bucks on the limited edition CD (25 copies). “old apartment” contains 26 minutes of boom-bap instrumentals, short joints made of jazz-, funk- and soul-samples with a touch of lo-fi sound and little imperfections. I hope you enjoy that one since it is the first release where I really tidied everything to be pleased with every single track in the end. You can check out the snippet on SoundCloud and afterwards grab the free digital download (Donations are optional, if you’d like to support me!) or get the CD. Peace!

Upper Class – “Clockwork”

My new beat! Somehow dedicated to my grandpa’s old cuckoo clock. However, I’m really happy with the vibe of this one. Peace!

Also check out my other tracks or my releases on Bandcamp – it’s free!

Introduction

So this is my first blog entry. Time to introduce myself, I guess! My name is Benedict and I am an 18 year old beatmaker and rapper based in Germany. I love lifeful, crunchy, analog and organic sounding boom-bap instrumentals and generally, hip-hop that is based on jazz, funk and soul.

On this blog, I’d like to share my favorites with you that I found all over the internet. Bandcamp, Soundcloud, YouTube, basically everything that sounds great and can be listened to instantly.

This is mainly a blog for reviewing, sharing and promoting my discoveries (concerning hip-hop/boom-bap) or great old music to sample, but since I am a beatmaker and rapper as well, you will now and then probably read about my personal progress and my releases as well.

If you want, you can check out my SoundCloud, YouTube and Bandcamp page below to get an image of what I do and what type of music you can expect to hear on this blog.

Peace!

Benedict
